170 years

170 Years

Bonjour everyone!

This week has been very different to say the least, but I love it just the same

IT was the big hurrah Friday and Saturday 170 years of the Gospel in Tahiti it’s Amazing! And on Friday we were able to see so many culture dances of all the islands of the pacific. It was amazing! I will send some pictures next week because I forgot my camera. Haha I am sorry! Well anyway it was super cool and then on Friday we heard from a few speakers and all the missionaries sang called to serve, after we had a parade around the stadium, everyone clapped and cheered for us! I felt like a Star again! Well anyway it was super cool!

Random Quick note: Gold Bond... well it says it dries so we decided to puff some under our arms because it is so humid and sticky all the days. It does not dry, it is icy/hot in powder form, I don’t know if it was because we put way too much on or what but it was bad and kinda nice at the same time.

Any way a quick little story that I just love! So this week we talked to Denise on Thursday, and we set up a first lesson with her the next day. We arrived at her house and she was all ready to start before we got there! So we sat down and we stared talking and we introduced ourselves and told her a little bit about our families, and then we asked her if she wanted to tell us a little about herself. She told us that she has talked to the missionaries before but didn’t take the lessons, then she started to cry, she told us that she has had some problems in her life and proceded to show us her house arrest bracelet around her ankle covered by large socks. She told us that she had seen and recognized a book of Mormon among her brothers belongings and took it and started to read, she told us that she wanted to change and feel peace in her life again so she started praying that the missionaries would come to her house and teach her, because she couldn’t leave to come find us. She told us that we were the answers to her prayers.

I just want to end with what I know to be true. No matter where we are in life, no matter how deep or how confined. God knows us and there will always be way that he will show his love, by a friend, a family member, an answer! But you will never find what you’re not looking for. Look for Love, look for God, look for Change, Hope, Faith, whatever it might be and you will find it.

I love you all

I pray for you

Better late than never

friends family and everyone In between! happy 170 years of the church in tahiti! woo!

Work was good this week we have been working close with each if our investigators to give them any help that they may need, and the members here are so kind! a little to kind. I have thought this before but Tahitians just like to eat.. a lot. And some days two dinner appointments just kinda happen... I never know how it happens I try at all costs to avoid it! but this week it happened and I was so ready! so we go to the first members house and it is all rice and beans and bread, hearty! so I eat far to much for a half a stomachs worth and I was just thinking that I would eat a little bit for our next dinner. well we go and we get there and they made us a whole American dinner with fried chicken and mashed potatoes and French fries and salad. oh heavenly goodness. it was so good I couldn't help eating to much again, So I am so full and they make me eat another piece of chicken (when they say eat more in Tahitian you eat, and you don't complain) so I was eating this chicken as slow as possible I make sure at least 30 chews a bite. because I knew is I had an empty plate more fried chicken! so I left some chicken and went for the cucumbers in the salad because I could eat a little cucumber and it is supper crunchy so it sounds like a lot of food! so I hoarded the salad why my companion got another massive piece of chicken (Ha should have chewed more!) and I was so done! so I feel a massive brew of beans and chicken and fried broiling in my stomach, and I am ready to spit. then I hear "dessert!" oh dear I have never seen a chocolate pie so big in my life! my companion handed me this plate and oh my gosh I was not risking another piece of pie I at this pie slower than I have ever eaten anything in my life! well I finished it and I was so ready to go my stomach was on revolt! well we get out the door and I say "I am so full I'm going to throw up" haha my companion thought I was kidding! i walked far enough away from our members house and I leaned toward the gutter, it felt like a time bomb (my companion was still thinking I was joking) well the pie came first and I have never felt to good I started laughing I took a few steps and I was ready to go again! it was the most fulfilling experience! we walked some more I was still laughing (my companion was just starting at me, he just says "you have amazing control over that", "you just keep bopping around") I maybe had eight boisterous throw ups, all over my pants and shoes but that didn't stop my laughing, it felt so good! my companion told me he was jealous of me and I was just so relieved! so I learned a valuable lesson I'll try to relate it again well you know because I'm a missionary.
in life there are many blessing and great opportunity to fill us up! (life is my first meal) but be need to be wise in this life and contently remember the promise of blessings in the life to come! (dinner two)
because if we make bad choices in this life, what could be blessings in the life to come just turn into throw up all over your shoes, and then you smell like a big stomach ball in your next lesson, and you will be popping life savers in your mouth all night trying to get the smell your of your nose!!
my friends and family enjoy the blessings in this life, and remember god love for you so you don't waste time in this life and miss out In the life to come!
I promise you that chocolate pie was my worst enemy! and it could have been so good!

I love you all and I will send my love again on Monday!
be good be happy don't worry I don't have a eating disorder
love you all

Happy Mothers Day

I would like to start this email talking a little bit about one of our investigators and her son. We teach this woman Marie she is probably in her high fifties and all day she takes care of her handicapped son Henry. This family has very little and more than once have asked us for food. Marie is with her son all day helping him walk and eat, and each day they walk up Taapuna hill to sit at the top and talk. teaching and talking to Marie and Henry have really testified to me how much love can come from service. That's why moms are so special, because even if not as help is needed as Henry, mothers serve their children their whole lives! And so much love comes from that! Thank you mom, and thank you all moms!

This week was busy and we are setting up many family nights with families! my French is coming along and Tahitian is crazy, at first it was a lot to take is two languages being thrown at me. but now is seems weird that there are places in the world with only one language! We finally cut down the banana tree in our backyard that I have had my eye on. so in a few days they will all be ripe at once. Bananas for days! then after that, Nasty bananas for days! this will be a challenge! also there is this mango tree right by our house, with this massive almost ripe mango 35 feet up, every day I throw smaller mangos at it missing it by inches! ugh it is so tantalizing! here let me try and be a missionary and relate that to something! Don't Waste your small gifts by only focusing on the jackpot when you will end up with nothing in the end, because you have bad aim! and even if you think you have good aim and you knocked the first mango you saw down, you will be a little shocked and realize. you can't catch and have the mango explode all over your shoes!

happy Mother's Day, and have a wonderful week my friends and family

love you all

Life of the wild one

I dont even know what to title my emails, haha I like this weeks though! So this week was good haha  so Monday we went to the store and they has these awesome lizard shorts, we all bought a pair because they are so cool! I might end up broke spending all my money on dumb things but I dont even care! Lizard shorts were more important. Okay a little bittle qbout our investigators, this week was awesome with them, most of then struggle with addictions so we visit most of them every day and see how they are doing, I love our investigators. So exciting news Hinano (my very first lesson in Tahiti was with her) We went to teach her and Elder Bakow was telling me how when they sing a hymn before a lesson the spirit is so much stronger, so we tryed it and after we sang she told us she finaly prayed and knows the book of mormon it true. pshhh I am singing in every single leson the rest of my mission, the best part is my companion and I get off and it kind of sounds like we are trying to sing in harmony, hahaha but really we just are bad. So I am so happy for Hinano! Also two of our investigqtors who we set a baptismal date for bought there wedding rings! Gisele and Jonario! Jonario ran out of the room so fast to grab the rings and was looking at them the whole lesson! there great!
Okay so our sector Taapuna is split into super nice and super not nice houses! and we know no one in the nice area so I wanted to chqnge that so this week we just went up there to talk with everyone. People are so funny up there, we had a old lady who saw us and ran (a very slow run) to a random house to escape, dont worry we didnt let her get away, she wasnt interested. Thats okay, but we did find Johnathan, he was very interested about the gospel and we had our first lesson with him. He was so accepting and friendly I hope somthing about our message can help him, I know it can! hopefully we cqn hqve more luck with the nicer side of Taapuna.
Well thqt was this week, no one has come screeming for an autograph yet...any day now.
ooooh also yesterdqy we ate fafaru blegh so it fish that they put in ocean water for a few days (nasty, ocean water... thats not safe, there is fish poop and ameabas in that water)
and then they make you rub it all around this sour coconut mix with your hands and eat it whie they stare at you repeating "its good, its good" easy for them to say. taisted like a big diaper, a big salty poop catcher! nasty!

Love you all
hugs and love
